- No accounts. Your photos, notes, logos, presets and records are never uploaded to us.
- Location is read only while the camera is open, to draw the address and coordinates on your photo. We never receive it.
- To turn coordinates into an address, your phone asks Apple (on iPhone) or Google (on Android).
- We use Google Firebase for anonymous app usage and crash reports. It never sees your photos, notes, addresses or coordinates.
- RevenueCat tracks whether you have Pro, using an anonymous ID. Apple or Google take the payment.
- No ads, no selling data, no third-party AI.
1. Who we are
Nowmark: Timestamp Camera ("Nowmark", "the app") is published by The Apptor ("we", "us"). We are the controller of the personal data described here. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected].
2. What stays on your device
Everything you make in Nowmark is stored on your phone and is not sent to us:
- the photos you take or stamp, and any unstamped originals you choose to keep;
- the notes, place names, job references, "taken by" names, company names and logos you add;
- your stamp presets and settings;
- the in-app records of each photo (time, place, accuracy, note and save status);
- the reminders you set up.
If you have turned on your phone's own backup (for example iCloud or Google backup), your phone may include app data in that backup. That is between you and Apple or Google, under their terms.
3. Location
If you allow location access, Nowmark reads your location only while the camera is open. When you stamp a photo from your library, it uses the location already saved in that photo's own details, if there is one.
Your location is used to:
- draw the address and GPS coordinates, with their accuracy, on the stamp;
- write the GPS position into the saved photo file's own details, if you leave the "Location in photo details" setting on. Anyone you share that file with may be able to read it, so turn the setting off before sharing if you prefer.
Turning coordinates into an address. To show a street address, the app sends the coordinates to your phone platform's geocoding service: Apple's on iPhone and iPad, and Google's on Android (through the system geocoder). Apple and Google handle these requests under their own privacy policies (Apple, Google). If you type your own place name instead, that name stays on your device.
The Apptor never receives your location. You can say no to location access, or switch it off later in your phone's settings. Photos still get the date and time without it.
4. Permissions the app asks for
| Permission | What it is used for |
|---|---|
| Camera | Taking photos. Nothing is recorded or sent anywhere except your own photo library and the app. |
| Photos (iOS) | Add-only access, to save stamped photos to your library. The app cannot read your library. When you stamp an existing photo, only the photos you pick are opened. |
| Photos (Android) | Stamped photos are saved to your gallery through the system's MediaStore. Existing photos are chosen with the system photo picker. The app does not ask for broad access to your media. |
| Location | See Location above. Only while the camera is open. |
| Notifications | The photo reminders you create, plus occasional tips and Pro offers, which you can switch off in the app's settings ("Tips and offers"). |
5. Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics, provided by Google, to understand how the app is used and to fix crashes. They collect:
- app usage events, such as which screens are opened and which features are used;
- device and system information, such as device model, operating system version, app version and language;
- crash logs when the app crashes;
- an app instance identifier created by Firebase.
We do not collect the advertising identifier, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Your notes, addresses, coordinates and photos are never logged. Collection is switched off in development builds. Google processes this data on our behalf; see Firebase's privacy information.
6. Purchases
Nowmark Pro is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Apple or Google take the payment; we never see your card or payment details.
We use RevenueCat to check whether you have an active subscription. RevenueCat receives your purchase receipts and subscription status, linked to an anonymous app user ID that is not your name or email. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
7. Support messages
If you contact us through the form in the app or on this website, we receive:
- your email address, so we can reply;
- your name, if you give it;
- the topic and your message;
- from the app only, if you leave "Include app details" on: the app version, operating system version, device model, language and whether you have Pro.
No photos, notes or locations are sent. The message is stored in our support system, which runs on Cloudflare, and emailed to us so we can reply. To limit abuse, a one-way hash of your IP address is kept for 24 hours. If you email us directly, we receive your email in our mailbox.
8. This website
This website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising. It is hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard connection data (such as your IP address) to deliver and protect the site. Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers to fetch them.
9. What we never do
- We do not show ads.
- We do not sell or rent your data, or share it for advertising.
- We do not send your photos or notes to any AI service.
- We do not ask you to create an account.
10. Legal bases (UK and EU)
- Location, camera, photos and notifications: your choice to grant each permission, which you can withdraw at any time in your phone's settings.
- Analytics and crash reports: our legitimate interest in keeping the app working and improving it, limited to non-identifying usage data.
- Purchases: to provide the subscription you bought (performance of a contract).
- Support messages: to answer you (legitimate interest, or steps you ask us to take before or under a contract).
11. Keeping and deleting your data
- On your device: kept until you delete it. Deleting a photo in Nowmark removes it from the app (a copy already in your photo library stays there until you delete it). Uninstalling the app deletes all of its data on that device.
- Support messages: kept as long as we need them to handle your request, and deleted on request.
- Analytics and crash reports: kept by Firebase under its retention settings, then deleted.
- Subscription records: kept by RevenueCat, Apple and Google as needed to provide and account for your purchases.
Our delete your data page has the steps.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. Email [email protected]. Because the app has no accounts, we may need details from you (such as the email you used to contact us) to find the data. If you are in the UK, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), or in the EU to your local data protection authority.
13. Where data is processed
Google, RevenueCat and Cloudflare may process data in countries outside the UK and the European Economic Area, including the United States. Where they do, they rely on the safeguards recognised by UK and EU law, such as standard contractual clauses.
14. Children
Nowmark is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you think a child has sent us personal data through the support form, email us and we will delete it.
15. Changes to this policy
If we change how Nowmark handles data, we will update this page and the effective date at the top before the change takes effect.
